public_comment: "The problem with Kabixi is that it is one out of many names that have been applied to linguistically closely related groups belonging to the Chapakuran language family. The Chapakuran languages (mostly in Rondônia and Bolivia) are very closely related to each other and often hard to distinguish. The name Kabixi (or Kabishi, Cabishi, Cabixi, etc.) has also been applied to a group of Indians from Mato Grosso. Johann Natterer's wordlists (1828-29) include a language called Cabischi or Cabixi (from Rio Galera, Mato Grosso), which I have not been able to identify. There has been a suggestion that it might have been Nambikwaran, but that remains to be confirmed (it does not look Nambikwaran to me). (Willem F.H. Adelaar, personal communication, October, 2014.)",
